Dr. S.Venkateswara Sharma popularly known as Dr.SVSharma, worked as Deputy Director and Program Director, URRao Satellite Centre, Bangalore in charge of realization of all the flight hardwares for all the satellites of ISRO. He has been working in ISRO for the last more than 35Years. He has contributed significantly in design, development and fabrication of Satellite in various capacities in his service.
- Dr.S V Sharma, is passionate, dedicated and strong space technologist who has not left any stone unturned in brining success to this esteemed organization. Leads a strong team of about 400 Engineers and technocrats. URSC is the lead Centre of ISRO and the most prestigious work place. Centre is responsible for conceptualization, design, realization and production of all the types of Satellites namely Earth observation satellites, Communication satellites, Navigation Satellites and also the Interplanetary missions such as Chandrayaan and Mars Orbitter Mission. Dr Sharma is part of the policy making body for formulating policy for Satellites and Launch vehicles for all National needs. He is a great visionary & strategist with very strong Will & Conviction.
- As part of strategic planning, as visionary and think tank of the ISRO, laid down an innovative &efficient strategy for 12thfive year plan, including the realization strategy viz. planning establishment of required infrastructure, resources, industry participation, technology roadmaps, etc. This makes him demand very high respect in ISRO.
- Dr Sharma, Spare headed the prestigious, internationally acclaimed, National pride, technologically challenging and maiden successful Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM). His efforts are remarkable and commendable.Contributor in realization of the Mission to Moon, Chandrayaan1 and Chandrayyan2.
- Dr Sharmas Excellence in not limited to national acclamation, but his untiring efforts for harnessing various international agencies for achieving objectives of Indian Space program is commendable. He masterminded International cooperation and commerce like acquaintance JPL, ESA, ESCC, launch agreements MOU for space technologies, etc is proficiencies to impress upon internationally also. Participation in these international opportunities has earned reputation & revenue to the organization and the nation.
- Along with providing required thrust towards increased through put of the Centre, as a firm believer in indigenisation, he has been successful in collaborating with harness industry to meet the space demands.
- In view of meeting the increased demand, as part of effective realization strategy, Dr Sharma been instrumental in bringing in synergy in the system by parallel planning. Visualization and efforts towards collaboration with Indian industries towards space programme realization and the spin off lifting technology & quality capabilities to space level there by improving the standards of Indian industry in large is noteworthy. More than 150 large, medium & small scale industries are supported by URSC.
DrSVSharma education background. He did his Engineering Graduation in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Mysore University (1985), India. His Masters Degree (M.tech) during the year 1991 from Indian Institute of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) during the year 2008 in the field of Electronic design from the department of Center For Electronic Design Technology (CEDT), Indian Institute Of Science, Bangalore, India. He had been a meritorious student all along his studies. He has a very interesting tie up with institutions. He is one of the link for the ISRO – Academia interaction in ISRO. In this capacity he has encouraged several joint programs including Student Satellites.
Dr Sharma’s personal fields of interest are Micro electronics, Robotics and unconventional actuators for Space application. Study of effect of Space Radiation on Semiconductors Components and Materials.
Dr.S V Sharma is a natural technology visionary leader. His contribution to ISRO in different capacities as Deputy Project Director, Group Director, Program Director, Controller cum vigilance commissioner and Deputy Director is commendable.
